In the spring of 1943, the young Rosa Sauer (Elisa Schlott) is transported from a Polish village, where she fled the bombings of Berlin, to Nazi headquarters. There, together with other women, she is forced into a cruel and nerve-wracking task: tasting Adolf Hitler’s meals three times a day, with each bite potentially being their last.

The Tasters by Silvio Soldini is based on the 2018 book Le assaggiatrici by Italian author Rosella Postorino, inspired by Margot Woelk, who only after the age of 95 first spoke about her experiences as one of Hitler’s food tasters.
