Documentary about the Brabant band BZB (Band Zonder Banaan) and the friendship between the 6 musicians from Volkel.
Once founded as a school band and later a metal band, BZB (Band Zonder Banaan) has now become the most successful band in Brabant. The band still consists of almost all of the original members: Dick van der Wijst (drums), Erik Jans (guitar), Fred van Dijk (vocals), Leroy Schuckman (guitar), Willem van de Spijker (bass) and Robert van Asseldonk (sax). BZB makes pleasantly crazy folk rock, which still has some solid rock edges, especially live.
In the film ‘Echte Vrienden‘ director Wouter Habraken describes how the men share a passion for music, and how that together with a lot of fun could grow into the enormous BZB Show. A story like a boy’s book. ‘Echte Vrienden’ is a tribute to the power of friendship, of course with lots of music and images of stages over the years.
The film will be shown on Sunday afternoon, September 21, at the Music Film Festival, and we will talk to film director Wouter Habraken and drummer Dick van der Wijst, who will both be there at the Cinecitta Film Theater in Tilburg.
BZB used to perform at Pinkpop, Lowlands, Paaspop or Zwarte Cross, but hardly ever performs anymore. Only the ‘own’ festivals such as FestyLand in Volkel are still visited.
