TIAFF 2025: Inside Prora

This documentary examines the kilometre-long and surprisingly modernist holiday paradise Prora created on the German island of Rügen. The propagandist architecture now, as a monument, has an incredible story to tell. Prora was never able to serve its original National Socialist purpose as a holiday resort. The building was soon engulfed by events on the global battleground of fascism, the Second World War and Eastern European socialism. Countless people were put to work there, but for what reason? Now the power of investors rules, who want to turn it into a holiday paradise again. Using archive material from Prora's documentation centre and interviews with developers and architects from Germany, Italy and the United States, the documentary tells a multi-layered story on an important global structure and its future on a regional scale.
