A warm summer evening, a good drink in your hand, and a beautiful film on the big screen under the stars. This summer, Cinecitta proudly presents its Open-Air Cinema! In this fifth edition, you can enjoy the ultimate road movie Thelma & Louise.

Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon play Thelma and Louise, two working-class friends who plan a weekend getaway away from the men in their lives. Thelma’s husband, Darryl (Chris McDonald), is a domineering bully, and Louise’s boyfriend, Jimmy (Michael Madsen), simply refuses to commit. The road trip starts off fun, but eventually the pair end up in a bar. A drunken Thelma encounters a would-be rapist in the parking lot, and Louise shoots the man dead. The two decide they have no choice but to run.

Along the way, they meet a young criminal named J.D. (Brad Pitt), whose cowboy charm rubs off on the initially timid Thelma. The pair are pursued by a police detective (Harvey Keitel) who is sympathetic to their situation. He follows them all the way to the Grand Canyon, where the women make a fateful decision about their lives.

Thelma & Louise was directed by Ridley Scott and earned writer Callie Khouri widespread acclaim, including the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
