The Plague
At a water polo camp where bullying and peer pressure are the norm, twelve-year-old Ben discovers how difficult it can be to stand up for yourself and for someone else.
Description
Twelve-year-old Ben attends a summer water polo camp where a harsh social hierarchy rules. Desperate to fit in, he joins the popular boys, who cruelly ostracize an outsider with a skin condition, calling him “The Plague.” Although Ben increasingly feels sorry for the victim, he continues to go along with it out of fear of being excluded himself. But as the game spirals further out of control and the line between joke and reality begins to blur, Ben starts to wonder just how far the boys are willing to go.
In The Plague, director Charlie Polinger explores the boundaries between fear and contagion, as paranoia and group dynamics spiral further out of control. An ominous film that gets under your skin.
