Description
Fishermen and Guitars
Two marine biologists explore recreational and artisanal fishing along Argentina’s Atlantic coast to protect a critically endangered species: the Brazilian Guitarfish, locally known as Melgacho or Violin Fish. Patiently building relationships with fishermen, they uncover stories and knowledge about the drastic decline of these unusual fish. The documentary follows their painstaking work, presented with humor and warmth, as they develop a citizen science network to measure, photograph, and tag specimens for conservation. At the same time, they promote responsible practices in large-scale fishing tournaments. By bringing together local knowledge and academic science, they hope to help save these unique and little-known creatures.
Croatia’s Coast – Endless and Wild
Croatia’s coastline is far more than a holiday paradise. Stretching across more than 1,000 islands and thousands of kilometers of shoreline, it is home to extraordinary wildlife and breathtaking landscapes.
This visually stunning film reveals a hidden world where griffon vultures nest on seaside cliffs, geckos roam ancient coastal towns, cicadas fill the air with song, and brown bears, lynx and chamois inhabit the rugged Velebit Mountains. Beneath the sparkling Adriatic lies an equally vibrant underwater realm.
But this coast is also shaped by powerful winds, sudden storms and a changing climate, creating a delicate balance between beauty, resilience and transformation.
