Description

Every year, the world loses 24 billion tonnes of fertile soil—equivalent to thirty football fields every minute. If we continue farming the way we do today, we are literally eroding the foundation of our food system.

Narrated by actress Hanna Verboom, Eat More Trees shows that there is another way. The documentary follows Dutch farmer Yanniek Schoonhoven, who, together with her husband, is transforming 1,100 hectares of degraded land in the southern Spanish region of Murcia into a thriving example of regenerative agriculture.

Together with food forest expert and regenerative pioneer Louis De Jaeger, the film travels from the Amazon rainforest to Europe’s farmlands. Along the way, it reveals how trees and perennial crops can make agriculture more resilient to drought and extreme heat, while restoring soils, strengthening ecosystems, and producing healthier, more nutritious food.
