Amadeus, including a live piano performance – Thursday, May 28, doors open 7:30 PM

Amadeus triumphs as a compelling human drama, a visually stunning historical epic, a delightful ode to the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and as the winner of eight Oscars in 1984, including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Director.
The year is 1781, and Antonio Salieri serves as the competent court composer to Emperor Joseph II, Holy Roman Emperor. When Mozart arrives at court, a stunned Salieri realizes that the divine musical inspiration he himself longs for has been bestowed upon a vulgar, irreverent fool. Consumed by jealousy, he resolves to destroy Mozart by any means necessary—even murder.
About the performance:

Maurick Reuser (1998) is an internationally award-winning composer and pianist. He obtained his Master’s degree in Composition summa cum laude in Antwerp under Wim Henderickx, Bram Van Camp, and Steven Prengels. He also earned his Master’s degree in Piano cum laude in Tilburg under Jelena Bazova, Nicolas Callot, and Keiko Shichijō, concluding with extensive research into how traditional Japanese aesthetics can inform the composition and performance of contemporary music. Maurick has taken masterclasses with Geoffrey Douglas Madge, Boris Giltburg, and Menahem Pressler. He currently teaches music theory and solfège at the young talent department of the conservatory in Tilburg.
As a chamber musician, Maurick has performed works such as Messiaen’s Quatuor pour la fin du temps. As a pianist, he supports young talent in music competitions and works as a répétiteur with many singers in both classical and light music. He frequently collaborates with choirs on piano and organ and regularly performs Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle throughout the Netherlands. In his solo recitals, he enjoys presenting programs that bring together Western classical and Japanese contemporary music, engaging audiences in discovering connections between musical cultures. Maurick is also an avid chess player.
