Description
In this powerful directorial debut by Harris Dickinson (Babygirl, Triangle of Sadness), homeless drug addict Mike (Frank Dillane) tries to get his life back on track after a stint in prison. He finds work, a roof over his head, and even the beginnings of a new relationship. Mike longs for peace and stability, but on the streets of London a misstep is always lurking around the corner. The hopeful yet self-destructive Mike runs up not only against his own limits, but also against a system that keeps failing him.
Harris Dickinson, who also appears in the film, crafts in Urchin a raw and gripping character study that balances social realism with dark absurdity. The film had its world premiere in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, where Frank Dillane broke through with the award for Best Actor and Harris Dickinson was honored with the prestigious FIPRESCI Award for Best Direction.
