Description
77-year-old Tereza, born and raised in an industrial town on the edge of the Amazon, is suddenly ordered to leave her home. The state forces her to relocate to a so-called “senior colony”—a place where the elderly are expected to “enjoy” their final years, so the younger generation can focus entirely on growth and productivity. But Tereza refuses to accept this inhumane mandate. Instead of surrendering her freedom, she sets off on a clandestine boat journey through the Amazon. What follows is a voyage through lush landscapes filled with obstacles, unexpected encounters, and a growing realization that freedom knows no age.
The Blue Trail is a rebellious road movie by Gabriel Mascaro (Neon Bull) about aging, resistance, and the right to keep dreaming. The Brazilian film blends social urgency with a rich, atmospheric storytelling style and shows that growing old can look very different. The Blue Trail won the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize at this year’s Berlinale and was met with widespread international acclaim.
