Every month, Cinecitta hosts film specials fully styled after a classic film. You buy a ticket, and we provide a matching snack and drink — creating a complete experience inspired by the film. May’s classic is The Blues Brothers, one of the best comedies of the 1980s. To celebrate this iconic musical film, singer Dehaze will kick off the evening with a swinging live performance!

The iconic musical comedy The Blues Brothers (1980) tells the wildly absurd story of brothers Jake and Elwood Blues, played by John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. After Jake is released from prison, they set out—on what they call a “mission from God”—to reunite their old band. Their goal? To organize a benefit concert to save the orphanage where they grew up.

Director John Landis created a film packed with musical highlights, hilarious car chases, and legendary guest appearances by soul and blues icons such as James Brown, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and Cab Calloway. What started as a sketch on Saturday Night Live evolved into a cult classic full of energy, humor, and unforgettable music.

Thanks to its unique combination of electrifying live performances, iconic characters, and quintessential 1980s flair, the film became a timeless cult phenomenon. About the performance:
The music from The Blues Brothers is far more than just a soundtrack – it’s a love letter to American rhythm & blues, soul, and early rock ‘n’ roll. And for that reason, this “Film Classic with Experience” will of course feature a live musical performance. Singer Dehaze will give a live show before the screening, dressed in true Blues Brothers fashion and performing iconic songs from the film. Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering The Blues Brothers for the first time, this special event promises an evening full of nostalgia and top-tier music.

Dehaze (Sjors de Haas) is a singer-songwriter from Tilburg who has performed all over the Netherlands. In May, he released his debut EP Tell the World and played a sold-out release show at Paradox.
