The movie
Hundreds of Beavers
A drunken apple brandy salesman goes from zero to hero as a fur trapper with one mission: to defeat hundreds of beavers.
Description
After his apple brandy business is completely destroyed, a drunken salesman is left penniless and homeless in a freezing wilderness. He struggles to survive and gradually learns the art of fur trapping. When he falls in love with a fur trader’s daughter, he is given an seemingly impossible task: catch hundreds of beavers and he can marry her.
What begins as a simple hunting expedition develops into an increasingly absurd battle, as ingenious traps, madcap chases, and an army of beavers make his quest more difficult at every turn.
Hundreds of Beavers is an almost entirely wordless slapstick comedy that brings together classic silent films, cartoons, and inventive DIY filmmaking. Since its world premiere at Fantastic Fest, the film has travelled to international genre festivals including Sitges, Fantasia, and Yubari, where it became an audience favourite and picked up multiple awards. With its distinctive style and infectious inventiveness, Hundreds of Beavers is well on its way to becoming the cult favourite of the year.
