Description

June 1940. France surrenders to the German army and signs the armistice. Amid the chaos, one man refuses to accept defeat: General Charles de Gaulle. As a newly declared enemy of the state, he flees to London—without military support or any certainty of success—to pick up the pieces of his fallen homeland.

De Gaulle holds one unwavering belief: the creation of a new, free France and a Europe that refuses to lay down its arms in the fight against Nazi Germany.

De Gaulle: Tilting Iron is the first part of an epic two-part film about the patriotic figure Charles de Gaulle, directed by Antonin Baudry. With his background as a diplomat within the French government, Baudry brings a sharp political perspective to the story.

The film features a distinguished international cast, including Simon Abkarian (Casino Royale) as de Gaulle, Simon Russell Beale (House of the Dragon, The Death of Stalin) as Winston Churchill, and Mathieu Kassovitz (La Haine) as Admiral Darlan.

The film had its world premiere at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
