Muy Lejos

Sergio is a devoted football supporter from Barcelona who travels with his club’s ultras to Utrecht for an away match. Just before his return flight, he is struck by a panic attack. In a sudden urge to escape the pressure that has shaped his life, he decides to stay in the Netherlands. Unable to explain his decision to those closest to him, he cuts all ties with his past.

What follows is an uncertain and deeply confronting journey. With no money, no place to stay, and unable to speak the language, Sergio must find his way in a foreign country. As he struggles with anxiety and loneliness, he is forced to rediscover who he really is.

Muy Lejos (Far Away) is an intimate and moving story about identity, loneliness, and the search for freedom. Featuring a powerful performance by Mario Casas, this Spanish-Dutch co-production shows that sometimes losing yourself is the only way to truly find yourself.
