Father

Based on a true story. Michal and Zuska live with their two-year-old daughter Dominika in a beautiful house in a quiet suburban neighborhood. Michal has a successful job but feels constantly under pressure as business is not going well. On his way to work, after dropping their daughter off at daycare, he throws himself into another stressful workday. In the afternoon, when he is called by his wife asking to pick up their daughter, he realizes that Dominika has been left behind in the summer heat of his car.

During a court case, this temporary memory lapse—also known as “forgotten baby syndrome”—is examined. Tormented by grief and guilt, Michal begins to wonder whether he even deserves a future at all, and his marriage starts to crumble under the pressure.
