Tuner

In the drama Tuner, we follow gifted young piano tuner Niki (Leo Woodall), whose extraordinarily sharp hearing attracts the attention of criminals. They do not want to use his talent for tuning Steinway pianos, but for opening safes.

Niki suffers from a hearing condition that brings his promising music career to an end, forcing him to navigate the overwhelming streets of New York while wearing hearing protection. Together with his mentor and father figure Harry (Dustin Hoffman), he works as a piano tuner and meets Ruthie (Havana Rose Liu), a music student with whom he forms a special bond. But when criminals discover that Niki’s exceptional hearing can also be used to crack safes, his life takes a dangerous turn.

Tuner marks the feature film debut of documentary filmmaker Daniel Roher (Navalny). The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
