Description
After her acclaimed films Adam and The Blue Caftan, Moroccan filmmaker Maryam Touzani returns with Calle Málaga. Touzani’s grandmother serves as the inspiration for this Spanish-language drama, set in Tangier and dedicated to her.
The film tells the story of María Ángeles, a 79-year-old woman who receives a visit from her daughter Clara, a nurse living in Madrid. Clara, emotionally unsettled and facing financial difficulties, has decided to sell the family home where María has lived her entire life. In her efforts to resist her daughter’s decision, María rediscovers her city and finds a spark of romance that will change her life.
