Description

Sitting Still explores the work and life of Laurie Olin, one of the world’s most influential landscape architects, and his profound social vision. This rare and intimate portrait invites viewers into the mind of a brilliant and idiosyncratic iconoclast: to see what he sees, to feel what inspires him, and to hear his urgent call to shape our collective future as never before.

At a time when global values increasingly revolve around “profit”, Olin’s driving force has always been the creation of an equitable society through healthy, shared public space. In many ways, the most pressing environmental challenges and social divisions can be healed through the power of landscape. Olin’s method: sit still, truly look, and draw.

Inspired? After the screening, you are invited to join Tilburg-based architects Herman van Berkum and Stephan Haans on a sketchpedition. Following a short introduction, you will head out — in or around Cinecitta — to pause, observe and capture your surroundings through drawing. Anything you see can be sketched: a building, a street, a daily scene.

Like Laurie Olin in Sitting Still, capture a moment of the world around you. Both amateurs and professionals are welcome. You don’t need much: a sketchbook and a (fineliner) pen will do. Choose what suits you and is easy to carry. Participation is possible upon presentation of your ticket for Sitting Still.
