Description
In Marty Supreme, Timothée Chalamet plays the charismatic Marty Mauser, a street-smart ping-pong player who rises from gambler to champion. The film is inspired by the life of table-tennis legend Marty Reisman. Marty Mauser (Timothée Chalamet) develops an interest in table tennis at a young age. As small as the ping-pong ball is, so great is his ambition to succeed in the sport. His dream, however, is dismissed by those around him. In his pursuit of success, he pushes himself to the limit and becomes immersed in a world of temptation, risk, and challenge. As he stakes everything on achieving his goal, he discovers just how high the price of success can be.
For his portrayal of Marty Mauser, Timothée Chalamet went to extraordinary lengths. He trained intensively in table tennis for years, working with coaches and largely out of the spotlight to fully master the sport. From 2018 onward, he even traveled the world with ping-pong tables while filming other productions, including Wonka and Dune: Part Two. All of the table-tennis scenes in Marty Supreme were performed by Chalamet himself.
