Two befriended couples have shared a holiday home in the Austrian Alps for years. When their teenage daughters are involved in an accident during a joint vacation, their seemingly solid friendship quickly begins to unravel. Old wounds and long-suppressed frustrations drive the parents further apart when they learn that one daughter can be saved—but only if the other girl is sacrificed. What begins as a moral dilemma escalates into an absurd battle full of manipulation and desperate actions, in which the boundaries of decency continue to fade.
