Omschrijving
Ma vie ma gueule is an intimate, sharp-witted portrait of female self-reflection and emotional detachment. It is the final work of French director Sophie Fillières, who passed away shortly after filming.
The film centers on a middle-aged woman in the midst of an existential crisis. She struggles with questions about who she truly is, what she means to the people around her, and how to relate to a world that constantly changes—faster than she seems able to keep up with. While it appears to the outside world that everything continues as normal, she increasingly feels disconnected from herself.
The New Yorker wrote: “Ma vie ma gueule is a deeply personal film where vulnerability, humor, and individuality come together. It is an intimate portrait that subtly blurs the line between fiction and reality, giving the viewer the sense of directly glimpsing a piece of Fillières’ soul.”
Ma vie ma gueule opened the prestigious Quinzaine des Cinéastes at the Cannes Film Festival.
