Description
Cluj, Transylvania. After being evicted from a basement, a homeless man takes his own life. Orsolya, the bailiff who carried out the eviction, is overwhelmed with guilt. The film follows her harrowing and at times absurdly comic search for redemption, sharply exploring themes such as the housing crisis, post-socialism, nationalism, and the power of language. With a blend of realism and satire, director Radu Jude poses difficult questions about personal responsibility in a fractured society.
Radu Jude won the Golden Bear in Berlin in 2021 for Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn and is considered one of the most important voices in contemporary European cinema. His latest film, Kontinental ’25, was once again awarded at the Berlinale—this time with the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay. With his idiosyncratic style, sharp social critique, and experimental approach, Jude continues to surprise.
Since the film has not received Dutch distribution, it will not be released in cinemas in the Netherlands. That is why we are especially proud that Kontinental ’25 will be screened at the 013IFF festival.
